Overview:

Professor Abraham Koten is a recognized authority in oncology ranked among the best physicians of Israel. He is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and manuals, who possesses a wealth of academic experience. Professor Abraham Koten is one of the inventors of “the electronic nose” – an ultra-sensitive detector responsive to substances characteristic of cancer cells formation.Since 1982 Professor Abraham Koten has been a head of Oncology Department at Rambam Health Care Campus. He has over 40 years of professional experience.

1972: Graduation from Faculty of Medicine of Hebrew University of Jerusalem
1974 - 1978: Practical clinical training in oncology at Rambam Health Care Campus
Since  1992: Practical clinical training in oncology at Faculty of Medicine, Technion
1993: Practical training in beam therapy at the Rhode Island Hospital, Brown University, USA

Practical experience:

1986 -1995: deputy head of Oncology Department at Rambam Health Care Campus, Haifa, Israel
1989-1996: head of Beam Therapy Department of Institute of Oncology at Rambam Health Care Campu
1991, 1994, 1996: acting head of Oncology Department at Rambam Health Care Campus.
Since 1996  consulting expert of Oncology Department at Rambam Health Care Campus.

Major domains of scientific activities:

Combination of radiation therapy and chemotherapy in treating solid malignant tumors, systematic radiation therapy of cutaneous lymphoma with electrons, development of new techniques of exterior radiation therapy, brachytherapy, and intraoperative radiotherapy,  quality control of radiation therapy.
